1. Introduction

Welcome to Edinburgh, Fife & Lothians Tutors (“EFL Tutors”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and services. By using our website or engaging our tutoring services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please refrain from using our services.

2. Services Overview

EFL Tutors provides one-to-one tutoring, small group tutoring, academic coaching, and bespoke learning programmes for students in Edinburgh, Fife, and the Lothians. Our services are available online and in person (subject to tutor availability).

All tutors are vetted and represent EFL Tutors as independent contractors or staff under our supervision.

3. Booking and Payment

› Tutoring sessions must be booked in advance through our contact form or by email.
› Payment is required prior to or on the day of each scheduled session, unless otherwise agreed.
› We accept online payments and direct transfers as approved methods.
› Late or missed payments may result in suspension of services until the balance is cleared.
› For bespoke programmes or coaching packages, detailed payment terms will be provided in writing before sessions begin.

4. Cancellations and Rescheduling

› You may cancel or reschedule a session by providing at least 24 hours’ notice.
› Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may result in a full session charge.
› If a tutor cancels, the session will be rescheduled at no additional cost.
› Repeated cancellations may result in the loss of reserved time slots.

5. Responsibilities

› Students are expected to attend lessons punctually and complete any assigned work.
› Tutors will deliver lessons professionally, prepare relevant materials, and maintain confidentiality.
› Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that minors are available for scheduled sessions.
› EFL Tutors is not responsible for outcomes based solely on student effort, attendance, or engagement.

6. Online Tutoring and Conduct

› Online sessions are held via approved platforms such as Zoom.
› Students and tutors must maintain a respectful, distraction-free learning environment.
› EFL Tutors reserves the right to end a session early if inappropriate behaviour occurs.

7. Intellectual Property

All teaching materials, notes, and resources provided by tutors remain the intellectual property of EFL Tutors unless otherwise stated. These materials are intended solely for the student’s personal study and must not be copied, shared, or distributed without written consent.

8. Liability

While every effort is made to provide high-quality tutoring, EFL Tutors cannot guarantee specific academic outcomes.

We are not liable for:
› Any loss of data or work during online sessions
› Technical issues beyond our control
› Consequential or indirect damages resulting from tutoring services

Our total liability is limited to the total amount paid for the affected session(s).

9. Data Protection

We comply with the UK Data Protection Act and GDPR. All personal information is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.

10. Amendments

EFL Tutors reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Updated versions will be posted on our website, and continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the Scottish courts.
