Our small-group programme for National 5 English. A full-year course that develops confident reading, thoughtful analysis and strong writing, turning “I don't know what to write” into clear, confident exam responses.
The programme follows the National 5 English course from the first week of term through to the final revision push. Each session builds on the last, developing your child's skills in RUAE, Scottish Text, critical reading and essay writing, alongside the reading, analysis and exam technique they need to become more confident and capable as the year progresses.
Because groups are small, every student is known. Questions are welcomed, ideas are explored, and mistakes are treated as part of learning. Your child gets regular opportunities to practise analysing texts, develop their written responses, receive feedback and apply their skills to exam-style questions, with their confidence growing week after week.
Students begin by building the core skills needed for RUAE and developing confidence in understanding and analysing unseen texts.
Students develop the skills needed to understand, analyse and write about their Scottish Text.
Students build their critical essay skills step by step, before putting everything together under timed conditions.
Small groups meet online each week with a qualified tutor.
Regular practice analysing texts and developing written responses.
Regular check-ins so students, and parents, can see progress.
The final term focuses on technique, past papers and confidence.
